depot gift card – gardenerscardiff.co.uk http://gardenerscardiff.co.uk For the Best Gardeners in the Cardiff Area Sun, 01 Feb 2015 20:05:02 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.0.21 Your Questions About Gardening http://gardenerscardiff.co.uk/your-questions-about-gardening-1006/ http://gardenerscardiff.co.uk/your-questions-about-gardening-1006/#respond Sun, 14 Dec 2014 20:05:02 +0000 http://gardenerscardiff.co.uk/your-questions-about-gardening-1006/

Mark asks…

Gardening on Rental Property?

When I moved into my place, there were a lot of spiders and ants but with thorough, routine cleaning they disappeared. My landlord got into a long-term rental dispute with next door neighbors and the gardening services stopped. Depending on who you ask, the person either disappeared or the landlord wasn’t paying his bill. Since the neighbors finally left over two months ago, gardening services have not resumed and the bugs (amongst other things) are returning. I have even offered to do this for a fair price but the landlord only wants to pay with a $20 Home Depot Gift Card. His late fees (which are greatly enforced) are more than 3x that amount. I am tired of things flying in and biting me.
California. I do believe it is noted in the lease that he is responsible for gardening duties.

GardenersCardiff answers:

****Easy – If it says in the lease the landlord would take care of it then legally he must.****

My first question is What state do you live in? States have different rules for Landlords and what they are responsible for. Let me know and I will tell you what I know.

First check your rental agreement to see if it states who’s responsibility the gardening or maintaining the outside of the unit is. If it says that the landlord pays for a gardener then that was the agreement when you moved in and that must be honored until you sign a new agreement stating different.

Pest control should always be the responsibility of the property owner or landlord and if the yard is allowed to get worse then that will be a health violation.

With more info from you I can give you some exact statute’s to take back to your landlord.

*********
There are many kinds of defects that could make a rental unit unlivable. The implied warranty of habitability requires landlords to maintain their rental units in a condition fit for the “occupation of human beings ” In addition, the rental unit must “substantially comply” with building and housing code standards that materially affect tenants’ health and safety.

A rental unit may be considered uninhabitable (unlivable) if it contains a lead hazard that endangers the occupants or the public, or is a substandard building because, for example, a structural hazard, inadequate sanitation, or a nuisance endangers the health, life, safety, property, or welfare of the occupants or the public.

A dwelling also may be considered uninhabitable (unlivable) if it substantially lacks any of the following:
* Clean and sanitary buildings, grounds, and appurtenances (for example, a garden or a detached garage), free from debris, filth, rubbish, garbage, rodents, and vermin.

i want to look at trips to the tivoli gardens in rome as a gift

GardenersCardiff answers:

Great gift!
The name of the Villa where the gardens are is Villa d’Este.
It’s not very far, about 30km, I think.
You can reach it
By car:Autostrada A24, exit: Tivoli;
By train:Roma-Pescara Line, Stazione Tivoli;
By bus:Bus Lines Cotral Roma-Tivoli (station in Rome: metro stop Ponte Mammolo; bus station in Tivoli: Largo Nazioni Unite).

Enjoy yourselves!
This is the official web site, you can also book tickets on line.
Ciao!

Laura asks…

What would be an appropriate wedding gift for my nephew?

When my daughter was married, my sister came to the wedding with her adult children and gave only one gift represented to be from the whole family but the value of the gift was only about $50.00. although they certainly have the means to do better. Now, my nephew is getting married and I, as well as my adult children were invited. Should we reciprocate in the same manner or get individual gifts?
One person referenced it being for my nephew, not my sister but as I mentioned, even this nephew did not give my daughter a gift at her wedding.

GardenersCardiff answers:

Your choice…personally I would get him something you know he will use that no one else will buy: yard equipment. Like shovels, rakes, a high quality 50 ft roll of garden hose…or all of you could chip in and give a home depot gift card. Everyone always gives toasters and housey crap…give them something they won’t get two of and actually make good use of. If everyone who can tosses 100 onto a gift card….well, kinda says it all, doesn’t it?

Jenny asks…

Any ideas for a gift for an avid gardener who lives in California?

It’s for my dad. He plants a lot of flowers around the house and has a garden that he grows vegetables in. He seems really into bulbs (whatever those are). Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

GardenersCardiff answers:

It seems like your dad has a keen interest in gardening. And you said he is into bulbs what I would suggest is buy to LED Grow Lights, he would definitely like it. I will give a brief idea about what it is, “LED lights are typically offered in a variety of colors to use at appropriate stages of vegetative growth and they produce such little heat, they have little risk of burning your plants; they do not require you to additionally purchase cooling fans.” My brother has doing indoor vegetable gardening for over a year and it is perfect for plants and he knows a lot of stuff about gardening.

What is an appropriate gift for two muslim girls?

I am American and am going to visit a fairly strict muslim family that likes in France. Does anyone have an idea for gifts for the two daughters, who are 13 and 9? Thanks so much!

GardenersCardiff answers:

A Razanne doll for the younger daughter. Link:
http://www.noorart.com/shop_category/razanne_doll_toys

Coloring books (Dover makes really nice ones) that feature animals, birds, gardens, flowers (but not people) and nice color pencils for the older daughter, and possibly the younger would be very nice as well. Skip any books that have dogs, or pigs as well.

Jewelry making kits would be popular.

Paint by numbers (do not get puppies, people or farm ones with pigs).

Tandy Leather products makes some simple kits that would be appropriate. Again, flowers, or designs.

The card game Uno.

Breyer horses (especially arab horses).

Also here’s a link to a web site that sells Muslim toys:

~Garnet
Permaculture homesteading/farming over 20 years
99% of my customers are Muslim (I raise meat goats and sheep).
