I have a large bag of supermarket potatoes that have sprouted. I have only ever planted the ones you buy in garden supply stores, will these produce a good crop of potatoes?
Yes, they will produce potatoes. But you will have to leave the potatoes out in the sun for a few days before you plant them. They put a chemical on the potatoes that helps to keep them from sprouting, putting them in the sun helps eliminate the effects of the chemical so they will sprout.

Starting a e- commerce store with a drop shipper whose products are fences and garden supplies.
I find that for big, heavy stuff…UPS GROUND is the way to go. If you mail heavy garden supplies through the US postal system, it’ll cost you a fortune because of the package weight…think of what it costs to mail books if you try to send them by first class or priority, and package weight is the only criteria USPS uses to price the cost to mail.
UPS GROUND, on the other hand, specializes in heavy boxes and bases the rate on the size of the box, rather than the weight. My opinion is that Fed Ex is good for getting small letter type packages places fast and DHL’s forte is overseas shipping (import/export stuff). Best place to get more info about these services:

I sell seeds online (mostly fruit and vegetables) and people from Canada and the UK are interested in buying from me. I know I have to have permits to ship seeds internationally, but most online garden supply stores offer overseas shipping so it is possible.
I’ve called the postal service and asked for resources but they weren’t sure where to go, and I’ve also visited the government websites for the countries I want to ship to, but never found any clear answers.
Does anybody know where and how I can get the permits?
I bought this one: http://www.techawave.com/techawave/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=541907

I have about 500 bucks I’d be willing to put towards equipment for growing in a shelter, one that would have no light likely being built out of concrete.
Sorry, my keyboard went dead and i had to cut it short.. yes, i would be running off of either a crank energy source or solar panels, to fuel the power needed for the lights that are capable of growing plants, i would like to know where i could get this type of equipment, Lights. panels, what types of plants are the best for growing under these conditions and time is a matter since it would be a small concrete room under the surface food would need to be raised fast.
You would be better off buying a lot of canned and freeze dried foods. To start growing food if there is a catastrophe would take too long and you’d die of hunger before it grew. And as mentioned above, no light equals no growth. And $500 won’t start to equip a real shelter. Gets some canned stuff in case you need it and don’t over worry.

I’m interested in getting a job at a local garden supply job but I’m not quite sure what I should wear. Any suggestions for my resume while on that topic?
Well you should wear something that says “i’m ready to work!” not something that says “I don’t care are you giving me the job or not”.But i suggest a nice skirt black what ever suits you a nice collared shirt boots, heels, flats. And a flowered headband (if you have one) and that’s what i think!

I am looking for ordinary flower, vegetable & herb, and fruit seeds ……in addition, for some
equipment like shovels and watering cans and the like for a home garden…….please advise
I was going to put all this in my luggage when I next visit Bangalore, but perhaps it would be easier to buy things in India rather than go through the process of obtaining permits to take the material into India
thank you in advance for your consideration

There’s a wonderful shop just near the gate of Cubbon Park

A builders merchant seems like your best option.

I am looking for an online store where I can buy plants and landscaping supplies (such as pots, mulch, pavers, pebbles, etc) which will deliver in the Brisbane region for a reasonable fee. Bunnings charges far too much for home delivery.
Bunnings delivers in sydney so im sure they would in brisbane to. I think you would have to visit the store and collect your items first, then get it all delivered

I’m making a fountain for my garden and am not sure exactly what material to use or where to find them. I want it to be three shallow dishes of different sizes that are slightly tilted, so the water pours from one to the other.
I would love some suggestions on what type of dishes I should use…I was thinking some kind of metal?
And some ideas on where I can find these dishes would be much appreciated!
Thanks so much!
Look in the phone book under Gardening supplies

I really like Plant Warehouse!
Try Sloat garden center out by the Zoo. Easy to get to and lots of parking.

I live in an area that does not have a long enough summer to have a full harvest. Where can I buy material to start my garden indoors?
Most garden centers will have what you need or can order it for you. Just tell them what you want to do and they should be able to make solid recommendations.
Or, You can also get an Aerogarden (I’ve seen them at Bad Bath and Beyond or you can mailorder one), start your outdoor garden in it and move the plants outdoors or leave it as an indoor garden and then continue to grow indoors through the winter.

We are having a Vegetable garden this year. We live near Midland, MI. It will be a 1,000 Sq. feet garden but we do not have a whole lot of money. How can I get free Soil, mulch, Compost, manurer, tools, seeds, plants and anything like that?
First ask co-workers who own homes, homeowners always have stuff they want to get rid of. Also in the local papers at the beginning of the want ads they list the free stuff and you can also list what you’re looking for. Don’t forget the hardware store has all that stuff also and if you know anyone there they can help you, sometimes the bags of the stuff you need break in transit or even at the store, tell them not to throw it away and save it for you. Plants you can get from the nursery again some get messed up in transit and they get rid of them. Last let the neighborhood know what you’re in need of. And last you can ask at your church. Good luck………Tell me how you make out.

I know there is a place that sais lawn and garden in the shopping place but iwent there and all i found were pets to buy and furniture and stuff. Is there anywhere to but the actual things I need to start making the garden?
They can be sent as free gifts by your neighbors. If u wanna buy it its at the lawn and garden store and its the blue pack with the wheelbarrow

I’m thinking of doing cupcakes in the small pots from your local garden supply store.
Since I have done this more than a dozen times, I would say it is ok to bake in a terra cotta pot. BUT, you need to buy a NEW one, sterilize it by washing/scrubbing it with soap dish and water, put it in the oven for 2 hours at 200 degrees.. Let it cool, them VOILA ! It is safe… BUT, you need to line the whole inside with foil tightly before you pour your cake. Don’t forget to spray with cake release from Wilton. Marthat Stewart did this once on her TV show.

where in north hollywood is there a store for gardening (like indoor gardening) that has a website that i can check out right now
Hey Heeeeeey,
Hope I got the number of ‘e’s in your name right, lol. Here are some links, you might have to follow them to second links. There are some great nurseries in LA County, you might like to leave N.Hollywood to go and see some of them. Many yellow page listings (on the internet) also have web sites. Hope this helps you out some.

I wanted to ask some Australians and New Zealanders often they shop at Garden/flower shops?
It would be a place that sells Floral Arrangements, live plants (flowers, house plants, bushes, trees), gardening supplies, cards (like for birthdays, romantic cards, Valentine’s Day, and special occasions), some miscellaneous things like candies, jewelry, and statuettes.
I prefer self-employment over corporate employment. I do have a 4 year degree in business, so if I choose not to use my business degree its my option.
Our local Garden Centre has all of those things plus a large gift and kitchen shop and a lovely coffee shop/cafe. I know several keen gardeners who buy plants or garden supplies just about every week (in Australia, we can garden all year ’round) but I only go once a month or so and then only for the cafe and a browse in the kitchen shop. Every suburb used to have a small ‘garden nursery’ that sold only plants and garden supplies and perhaps a few cards and garden ornaments, but they’ve been largely supplanted by huge complexes like the one near us – it would easily cover several acres.

I’m brand new to gardening and want to start gardening in pots. I don’t have a yard so everything will be pretty much in balcony. Since I’m new to this I don’t want to invest too much right away so I want to know where I should start and what place carries the cheapest pots, soil, fertilizer, seeds, etc. Any information related to any of this is welcome! Thanks in advance!
Wow thanks, I never even thought of looking at dollar tree or big lots, will check them out in addition to the others!
Dollar store has the best prices, but their selection is limited. Other than that, Walmart is the cheapest.
