Gardening 101: How do I start a garden? What type of garden tools do you suggest? Serious replies only.?
Right now the area is partially covered with mulch.

Start small…identify a small area or existing bed and focus on good soil first. Then try to use native or local plants…they’ll be easier to grow and best for a beginner. Don’t forget to mulch afterwards to keep down the weeds and help the garden retain moisture.
As for tools, I need a rake, a shovel, and a pitch fork.

Must have gardening tools?
I am going to be moving soon to an area with some small flower beds. I have never had a garden before and know nothing about it. I would like to know what tools I am going to need to be able to keep up small flower beds. Thanks in advance.

Pruners! Must have good “scissor” type pruners, anvil pruners can crush rather than cut. Get a good trowel or shovel…drop forged not riveted (blade and handle are one piece, safer for you) Shovel, gloves, pistol grip for your garden hose, ummmm, kneeling pad??? Have fun shopping!!
