my vegetable garden?

ok I have a little garden going, I have tomatoes, jalapeños, bell peppers, red chili peppers and cilantro that I bought and they had the vegetables growing on them and its been 3 weeks since I planted them and they are all dead, and I also have seeds growing sunflowers and onions, and there doing just fine. Now the weather here has been hot in the high 90’s and even topping 100, and I went out every night watering them and every other week giving them food, and there still dead except for one tomatoes plant my goliath tomatoes, any thing I can do to bring them back ok keep my others from dieing?
I do wait till the sun goes down, and if my plant dont sprout back up next year ill go seeds, cause i did plant sunflowers from seeds adn there dooing greate

Lots of things can go wrong in a garden, including overfertilizing and overwatering, as the previous answerer stated.

You need to get your soil tested, to find out the pH and the amount of essential nutrients available. Check at stores that sell gardening supplies and they should be able to tell you how to get a test run. Here in Tennessee, the Univ. Of Tennessee has regional labs that handle it for about $ 6. It’s a bit late to help you out this summer, of course.

Plants don’t need watering every night. A good soaking once or twice a week is actually better for the plants.

Keep trying — gardening is a fun activity and you’ll have success sooner or later.

What are some good gifts to give to teachers at the end of the year?

Keep in mind that these are gifts for 8th grade teachers so it would be my last year at this school. Also there are about 10 teachers so keep cost in mind too…Thanks!

Trust me, teachers have so much accumulated junk in the form of gifts from students that they could live off yard sales for much of their careers.

So, what you get the teacher is something that is going to be used up. If you know for a fact that the teacher loves a particular brand of chocolate, then get that. If you don’t know such preferences, don’t guess.

Otherwise, it’s all about gift cards at restaurants such as Olive Garden, Outback or whatever.

But that’s kinda cheesy, right? I mean, is s/he really gonna remember YOU when that card gets used? No, of course not. UNLESS you also present her with a card that has your mug on the inside and says,

“Thanks -everyone in your class is better because of you. I appreciate it and will never forget what you have taught me -both in terms of the (name of subject) and also in terms of just growing up. What I’ve enclosed is a small token of my appreciation -and if I enclosed a thousand of them, they wouldn’t be enough. Hope you enjoy, and please -don’t stop teaching any time soon!”

How much should we spend on wedding gift and what kind of gift certificate?

Our family is going to the wedding of a church friend (the groom). Both the groom and the bride are in their 40s. They are getting married in our church and the invitation does not mention any wedding registry or reception. I am thinking of buying them a gift certificate, but I don’t know what they like. All I know is that the groom is very simple, nature-loving person.

Technically, and under the rules of etiquette, the invitation won’t have the registry listed in it. If you want to know what they want, and where they are registered, call them, one of the wedding party, or their parents, if they are around and involved in the wedding. And yes, it is polite to do so if you want to call and ask.

If you want to be practical, a gift card to a big box store like K-mart or Walmart is good. They could buy anything they wanted to, even putting your card on a pricey item.

If you know he gardens, a gift card to the local nursery, or one of the hardware stores that sells gardening supplies.

Ask if they have hobbies, a gift card to the camera store, or the craft store would be OK.

Or ask what their favorite restaurant is, and even if it is McDonald’s, that is fine for a gift card.

And money is always fine. Depending on how well you know them, and how many people are in your party and will be listed on the card, around a $100 for the present would not be out of line.

There is plenty of shops and warehouses to rent for minimal money. I want something different and that will be popular.. I was think of opening a body peircing shop or a garden center/outdoor gift lines..

How to write to a company for free supplies/plants for a high school club?

I am secretary of my High School club, and we want to write to companies like OSH and Lowe’s for gardening supplies and plants or seeds for our club’s memorial garden. How should we write it?
I know we need to:
-include a group picture
-tell them our mission
-tell them how it would benefit them (taxes write offs, etc)

Don’t forget to add what you are planning to do with the materials if donated. And tell them you will be sure to send them updates on the progression of your project.
First you make your letter like a proprosal for the items, you’ll need to set a budget up and develope a time line of when materials are needed to the start of project with an estaimation of how long the project may take. You’ll want to document everything take pictures and when the project is done send them a portfolio of the project.

Who supplies garden bark in bulk on the Wirral? I tried Darlington’s but they’ve moved.?

Gordale Garden Centre only supply bark in 75L bags. I’m looking for at least a lorry load!

I’m making a fountain for my garden and am not sure exactly what material to use or where to find them. I want it to be three shallow dishes of different sizes that are slightly tilted, so the water pours from one to the other.

I would love some suggestions on what type of dishes I should use…I was thinking some kind of metal?

Most garden centers will have what you need or can order it for you. Just tell them what you want to do and they should be able to make solid recommendations.

Or, You can also get an Aerogarden (I’ve seen them at Bad Bath and Beyond or you can mailorder one), start your outdoor garden in it and move the plants outdoors or leave it as an indoor garden and then continue to grow indoors through the winter.

I wanted to ask some Australians and New Zealanders often they shop at Garden/flower shops?

It would be a place that sells Floral Arrangements, live plants (flowers, house plants, bushes, trees), gardening supplies, cards (like for birthdays, romantic cards, Valentine’s Day, and special occasions), some miscellaneous things like candies, jewelry, and statuettes.
I prefer self-employment over corporate employment. I do have a 4 year degree in business, so if I choose not to use my business degree its my option.

Our local Garden Centre has all of those things plus a large gift and kitchen shop and a lovely coffee shop/cafe. I know several keen gardeners who buy plants or garden supplies just about every week (in Australia, we can garden all year ’round) but I only go once a month or so and then only for the cafe and a browse in the kitchen shop. Every suburb used to have a small ‘garden nursery’ that sold only plants and garden supplies and perhaps a few cards and garden ornaments, but they’ve been largely supplanted by huge complexes like the one near us – it would easily cover several acres.

I’m brand new to gardening and want to start gardening in pots. I don’t have a yard so everything will be pretty much in balcony. You can go to the grocery store and buy fruit and then when its in your inventory you will have the option to plant it. Also, you can take a gardening class a the science lab and it will give you seeds for some different plants.

I’ve bought online on Ebay. Seedling heat mats, seed trays, rooting hormones, plant markers, etc. You need to compare what’s out there–and price your products competitively. My daughter sells on Ebay and does quite well (not gardening supplies).

What is the best way to get free gardening supplies?

Other gardeners tend to be very generous to each other, as i have found since starting plant growing when i was a kid and people donated so much to me. I now return the favor and donate much to others, including plants and advice.

Plants are easily reproduced from cuttings and seeds or by division, allowing you to grow your collection at different times of the year. This way you can expand your range of plants for just a few pennies, such as the cost of hormone rooting products and possibly some potting soil.
Ive often helped others with garden care, such as watering or tending plants when someone is away from home, and grateful people will often repay with some garden material gifts.

Otherwise, if you see plants in someone’s garden that you like, speak to the home owner and ask about them-they may let you have some or at least give you some information about them.

Look on the internet for freecycle type groups that donate old
home goods to others-this way you may pick up garden tools, plants etc for the cost of going to pick them up.
Overall – keep your eyes open for what you see around you and like. Keep talking to others, be willing to share or offer to help. And wise experienced gardeners are great friends to find. If you are near to farmers or others with horses you may be able to get some manure for next to nothing or just free.learn how to reproduce plants that you like and cultivate for low or no cost too. Im often picking up seeds etc in public places that would otherwise go to waste,though ensure you’re not breaking laws.
