Donna asks…

So my friends sister is having a halloween party and shes going as a garden gnome. I want a costume idea thats just as creative and cool. I need it by saturday please! thanks. Im 13 btw
can i have somthing original please not just witch or ghost Thanks!!

GardenersCardiff answers:

You could go as many things, such as a superhero (poison ivy, cat woman), an animal (cat, bat, bunny, mouse, spider), fruit or veg (pumpkin), zombie, dead person (cheerleader, princess, doctor), doll, vampire, witch, psycho-killer, mad scientist, pirate, skeleton, alien, caveman, zorro, cartoon character (something like bugs bunny or a human cartoon), film character, clown, celebrity, devil, ghost, harry potter character, ninja, robot…
That is all I’ve come up with. But can you please specify towards what theme you want (humoristic or scary)…

Good Luck!

Lisa asks…

Harry Potter lives in my backyard.?

i cant seem to rid myself of him. what shall i do?
his friend ronald droos in time by time, hes quite handsome i dont mind him. but harry, all this stardome has really gotten to him i think.

GardenersCardiff answers:

Are you sure that he’s really in your back yard? Have the nargles toyed with your head at all?

If not, then just LEVICORPUS his *** over the hedge and out of your life. 🙂 Oh wait…there’s the chance that you can’t do magic. If so, then sick an army of garden gnomes on him…or turn his precious fame against him and let a bunch of fan-girls chase him to Timbuktu. When Harry is gone you can claim Ron as your own and do with him what you will.

Oh yea…can you please tell me how to get Dumbledore out of my sock drawer?

Chris asks…

James asks…

How should I start a pepper garden?

I really like gardening but I want to start growing peppers like habanaros bhut jolokia and Trinidad scorpions so how should I start when should I start where can I get seeds how many peppers can I get from 1 plant can I sell excess peppers I don’t need where can I sell them and how do I grow peppers?

GardenersCardiff answers:

It is too late to start your plants from seed. Purchase small plants from your local nursery or garden center. They need to be planted in full sun and soil rich in humus. They are also very suitable for pots on you patio. The vibrant color of the fruit make them very attractive plants. Different varieties produce different amounts. Contact your county for FREE professional advice specific for you region. I have sold excess vegetables at farmer’s markets and independent, locally owned vegetable markets.

I have also pickled and canned peppers and vegetables to sell and to give as gifts.

Maria asks…

What is a list of small things I can put in a gift basket for my dad for Christmas?

After hours and hours of thinking of something to get my dad, I’ve finally came up with a small idea. I’ve gonna have one semi-expensive thing in a gift basket surrounded with other small things for my dad. The big thing is going to be a new, quality checkbook since his is so beat up, it’s insane. Do you have any idea on what I can get him to surround the wallet? Just small, cheap things that a dad would like.

GardenersCardiff answers:

What about a calculator and a fancy pen? A bottle of his favorite cologne? A mini bottle of champagne? A packet of peanuts? Some winter gloves? A mug with his name on, or with ‘best dad!’ on.
Some books. How about some tools? Maybe you could buy him a little painted boat that sits on a stand? A photograph frame? What about a gardening set if he likes gardening? Some DVD’s? How about some underwear with a funny word on?

Have a merry christmas!

Richard asks…

What type of gift card do you most like to receive?

I want to offer a gift card as a prize in a corporate promotion and want to find out what type of gift card people most like to receive. Specific suggestions would be welcome.

GardenersCardiff answers:

If you are giving out a gift card for a specific city, make sure the card can be used in that area. For example, I live on the south coast of Oregon. We have 1 Starbucks (in the hospital), few major retailers (no Target, no Home Depot or Lowes, no Office Depot, no Olive Garden or similar restaurants, no Borders or Dalton bookstores). So getting a gift card from one of these vendors wouldn’t attract many people to participate in the promotion.

What we do have (so would be more likely in ‘any’ city) – Walmart, Kmart, JC Penney, McDonalds. Another option is a card that can be used online – these can be used anyplace in the US.

My personal favorite card – Either a American Express, DiscoverCard, JCPenny or Amazon giftcard.

Steven asks…

What kind of gift can I give for someone who is going for surgery to remove one of her lower legs?

She has been active in the outdoors/farming/gardening her whole life. She is senior and has a farm. She is going for heart surgery this weekend and (if she survives) after that will have her leg removed.

GardenersCardiff answers:

A warm hug and a letter, telling her all you wish to say to her, giving the motivation she needs.

Ruth asks…

How can I make a serving bowl look like a gift basket?

Im making a gift basket for mother’s day and I couldn’t find a basket so I bought a snack bowl. Its a plain white plastic bowl. The rim around the top sticks out and there are green rings around the top.

How can I decorate it to make it look nice with things I have at home?

GardenersCardiff answers:

Decide on a theme — kitchen, bath, garden, books, or a craft hobby. Fill bowl with items related to your chosen theme. Use straw or Easter basket filling underneath. Wrap it up in a big piece of clear or colored plastic, big bow on top and there you are!
