George asks…

Gardening Tools have been have been robbed on several occasions, yesterday Garage brken into???

WE’re so tired ot it. Now they stole our tools again and this time they stole them out of the locked garage. They broke the piece of metal that held the Lock.

And we are all asleep here at 10:00pm or by 12:00pm.. so they usually come at 2 , 3 or 4 i guess.

What can we do to stop these crooks?? Last time we called the police, this time too. But they keep coming. And it’s been like a year since we got robbed the last time. SO it’s kind of impossible to know when they are going to try it again. I could stay up all night and never sleep and check.. but that’s unrealistic.

What can we do?

WE’re not rich actually. There’s many semi wealthy Americans around this neighborhood, but we are hispanic and my father does labor ( gardening).. but they always steal his expensive gardening tools. So today we have to spend 500 Plus to buy gardening equipment just so we can do the job.

aaaarrgh.. why us? what can we do? Now the garage door will be open cause the lock mechanism is broken

GardenersCardiff answers:

Get a securiy video system they are cheap. And you can monitor it from any pc in the world. Here’s a direct link to some on ebay.

William asks…

what are the 15 basic tools for gardening. give its importance and pictures?

GardenersCardiff answers:

My basic tools are much fewer than 15.

One Spade
One hand trowel
One garden fork
A Wheelbarrow
A leaf rake
Good hand pruners
Lopers – for the stuff too big for hand pruners

Anything else is a luxury.

Paul asks…

Do i need more Gardening Tools?

I bought a hoe, rake, trowel, hand cultivator, and i have a shovel. Do i have to get a Garden Fork also or will that stuff suffice?

GardenersCardiff answers:

Yes, you should have a spading fork, and a good spade. Spading forks are handy for turning compost, because you can aerate the pile as you turn it by bouncing clods on the tines to break them up. They’re also handy for opening up the lower layer of soil, when you deep-dig or plant trees or large shrubs. Look for a fork with square tines that taper to a point. Most garden forks have flat tines, and don’t work as well because they’re weaker and they bend.

A garden spade is handy for cutting earth and framing beds, for stripping turf, and for flattening an area for a new terrace. The blade is heavier duty, and flatter, than a round-nosed shovel. It cuts a flat track, instead of scallop-shaped divots.
