Shouldn’t you be sitting in your unairconditioned farmhouse with one lightbulb, singing Kumbaya to your 15 shelter kitties while growing your own food in the community garden, helping the poor by selling all your worldly goods instead of throwing your money away in a capitalist system supporting Steve Jobs and Bill Gates? Come on young ones be activists or shut up.
I have to work because they make me property taxes.
If they’d quit doing that then I wouldn’t need the job and wouldn’t have to spend 8 hours a day on Y!A.
I could get my farm and garden but I’ll pass on the kitties.
I want a wild pack of family dogs.
Nancy asks…
My goal for the next 5 years is to have the ability and resources to move to a tropical country, own a few acres of land in the middle of a natural setting, grow my own food, and live there with minimal ties to the modern world. Besides a small hut-like shelter and an indoor place to store food, take cover for extreme weather, I would live off the land (of course, I would keep a cell phone for emergencies and want one outlet in case I have visitors.)
Keep in mind, I am 20 years old, still in college and have little money saved up. What steps should I take? Anybody with experience? Thank you!
Cell Phones only work between towers..Marry a native Girl..and 1001 ways to coconut recipes..lol

is, that people would start growing their own food at home. Also, small, local, family farms will be coming back again. I want to cater to these customers. Most farm supply stores work with large corporate farms. Is this a good time to start something like this up?
I would do this only if you have a lot of knowledge of farm/garden inputs and can “speak organic”. If you don’t have a great pool of knowledge of small farming/serious home gardening do get into this or you will likely fail. But if you have been in this game in another capacity for a while and do have a vast amount of knowledge that do it.
I have considered doing exactly this sort of thing out of my farm store but have not yet made the plunge. I have a deep knowledge of small farming, organics and I already buy a lot of items that would be good to sell in such a store in order to keep my small farm running well.
