Steven asks…

What do I have to do to get into Bass’ken Lake on Gaia zOMG ?

I have a ring in every slot and have been fighting gnomes, fluffs, garlics, mosquitos, gramsters, peelungers, etc, for a long time, yet I still am not allowed in Bass’ken Lake ! How can I get in ? !

GardenersCardiff answers:

You have to go around through Zen Gardens and go through the gate from the outside, that will open it in Barton Town.

Laura asks…

What is the best revenge a wife can get against her cheating husband?

I recently found out my husband has been lying to me for 4 months and cheating, not paying bills, etc.
Ladies-what is the best revenge, I mean absolute brutal revenge-without going to jail of course?haha
MEN-what is the worst ever done to you?
serious answers please!
And by the way-he is already OUT OF HERE! and divorce cannot be soon enough! BUT of all the dirty lies he has told-our home will be foreclosed soon, as he has not been making the payments he claimed he was making.
I STILL WANT REVENGE! yes i’m bitter, but get real-who wouldn’t be?

GardenersCardiff answers:

I can kinda relate.

Hmmm…….

Sign him up for catalogs and magazines for those people with erectile dysfunction.

Sign him up for free samples of stuff like pads, condoms, books on STDs, etc.

If he leaves his car doors unlocked, put some dead fish under the seat. Put some dead fish in the vents so when he turns on the heat or AC it will stink. (of course if caught you could get into trouble for that)

Take out an ad in the newspaper with his photo and have it announce “I’m coming out of the closet and I am happy to be gay!” or something like that.

Get garden gnomes and put them in his yard doing ‘naughty things’.

Get some cheap blow up dolls and have them sit in the front seat of his car.

Fork his yard, like, take 1,000 plastic forks and stick them into the ground in his yard. (sounds inmature but it will irritate him)

have a small bouquet of flowers sent to his work with a card that reads “Thanks for being gentle on me last night. It was my first time” and sign it with a man’s name, and draw a heart when signing it.

If I think of more, I will let you know. 🙂

Joseph asks…

How to decorate rock bed for cheap?

We have a pretty big rock garden in front of our house and i want to decorate it without making it look dumb, i’m on a tight budget but we are having a get together here and i want it to look decent… I like plants especially low maintenance plants 🙂 and i’m not sure what kind of decorations that would look alright outside the new house of a young couple… ? (i’m afraid of my old lady taste getting in the way) lol any ideas?

GardenersCardiff answers:

Hi Justaperson,
I too have a rock garden that I kept to the ‘minimalist look ‘ keeping in mind that I am trying to accomplish showing the natural look and texture of the rock. This does not allow for goofy plastic gnomes, silly pink flamingos, or over sized frogs, etc
Now my dear, start memorizing that sentence so you do not end up with goofy decorations. Recalling the key words Minimalist Look , ‘Natural Texture and Color’ of the rock… Using low maintenance plants… In a word.. Awesome! You might like to ask the ‘ love of your life :o) ‘ If she has any favorite small flowering plants ( marigolds ) that she wanted to add. Including into your world will get you farther ahead than excluding from your rock garden world. The marigolds are a good short term plant that will also enhance the ‘ Color of your Natural Texture Rock Garden ‘ they die or no longer bloom again once the autumn season temps begin to dip.
Repeat after me, Natural, Texture, Color ,Minimalist Look…. :o) why she might just love you even more thinking you have become a cutting edge Landscaping Designer!

Mark asks…

modern gardening design!?

I am looking for sites on the Internet about modern gardening preferably with pictures. I have a really small garden and would like to keep it simple and clean. Any ideas? Thank you!

GardenersCardiff answers:

Hello!

Ah… I see.. You want to design your small garden. It’s simple. But first of all, you must ask yourself what type of garden you want. Let’s say,

-Zen [More to utilizing space; Japan style]
-Egyptian [PLanting of palm trees; symmetrical & formal garden]
-Balinese [A sense of asian feel garden; similar to zen]
-tropical [A tropical forest feel; planted with tropical plants]

These ideas are ideal for a small scale garden.

Another idea i have, which maybe out of your question, [which you wanted MODERN] is the old ancient times [if you do like those dark ages, etc] – Roman garden, babylon hanging garden, Middle ages garden or English garden to your liking! =)

Lastly, ask yourself, do you enjoy random life or something organized and predictable? If you enjoy random life, go for a assymetrical design. If you want something organised, go for a formal, symmetrical garden!

With all these, you can draw a picture of how your garden will look like and hence, construct your desired garden! =)

Oh yes, as you want it to be clean, choose low-maintenance plants. You may think that low-maintenance plants are always dull and not colourful then you are wrong. =)
Read up more and you will be able to find many low-maintenance plants which will suit your mood and embience.

Lastly, before i go, do you know that you can actually make your garden looks bigger even though it’s small in reality?
YES… It’s possible. It’s called Minimalism. THe latter can make your garden more spacious, more effects without extending the garden boundary. It’s true. Check out how you can do it. Minimalism garden is a mixture of zen, balinese and tropical. Read more about them =)

That’s all folks. I wish you the best of luck in creating your garden! =)

Sandra asks…

Garden District in New Orleans?

Has anyone visited the Garden District in New Orleans?, any comments about the neighboghood?

GardenersCardiff answers:

The Garden District is a residential neighborhood that is very nice plus very expensive. It is called the > garden < district because houses have front lawns ("gardens") instead of the houses being constructed with the entrance to the building right on the sidewalk (which is how most houses in the French Quarter are constructed).

Unlike the French Quarter, the Garden District is not an area with a concentration of restaurants, bars, and entertainment. It's a residential neighborhood.

Susan asks…

what are some good names for gardens?

id like make a sign for my garden with a cute whimsical name on it

GardenersCardiff answers:

Garden of Delight. Garden of Dreams. Rainbow Garden. Natural Wonder Gardens. Wood Nymph Retreat. Peaceful Retreat. Serenity Garden. Blossom Beautiful. Bountiful Blossom Retreat. Fairy Lane. Or something with a bird name. Hope this helps.

Lizzie asks…

What plants are good for a garden in SouthWest Virginia?

I have a small garden this year and planted pole beans, peppers, cucumbers, roma tomatoes, pumpkin and egg plant.

The cucumbers, tomatoes & pole beans are growing, the pumpkins are in bloom too, but the two eggplants (bought already grown from Lowes) didn’t make it. The peppers, that were sprouts when I planted them, didn’t make it either.

Any idea what will grow best in South West Virginia?

I was wondering what I might have done wrong with my eggplants.

Also, does anyone know if watermelon will grow well here.

GardenersCardiff answers:

Tomatoes. South West Virginia is Hardiness Zone 7. Read the tags on plants at the nursery (Lowe’s, Home Depot also). If you are looking for veggies – those are annuals anyway, and most should grow fine. Peppers, Cukes, Strawberries, Sunflowers, Cantelope, etc. Your eggplants should do great – with some good soil, bug spray, and water. Watermelon will grow there! Yes indeed.

There are methods to improve your soil also. Consider learning how to compost your garbage. Mix leaves, sticks, garbage and dirt in layers. Next year it will make your garden fantastic. The more you do this, the better it gets!

From your comments, seems that you need to learn about watering (proper amount) and fertilizer. Also, bugs are plant killers.

John asks…

When should i plant my mini-garden? What would be some easy plants I can plant?

I am plant a mini-garden , a garden with few plants, and idk when i should start to plant them. I dont want to plant them to early or to late. Also, what would be some simple plants I can plant.

GardenersCardiff answers:

Go to a website like farmers almanac or hgtv, maybe. They should be able to help you find your zone for where you live and that will help you figure out when to plant. Also you can contact your local agriculture department, they can give you tips on when to plant and what varieties of plants work best in your area. (should be in the phone book) I have always found tomatoes to grow easily, you can get tomatoes cages and let squash or cucumbers vine up them, that way they don’t take alot of space. Bell peppers are easy. Herbs are supposed to be easy and don’t take alot of room, but idk I have never grown herbs. Agriculture dept can help with this too. Also go somewhere like home depot/ lowes. Thay can be very helpful, too.

William asks…

What are some low maintenance plants for my garden?

Hey so… I don’t have much time to spend on a garden, but I would like to plant something that looks nice for under the window in the front yard. I am looking for something that basically takes care of it’s self. Any bushes or flowers.. anything that would look pretty, but not be too much work?

GardenersCardiff answers:

Hi:
There are many evergreen low maintenance shrubs that will do well under your window in the front yard. Here are a few suggestions:

Mop Cypress – small evergreen variegated shrub – tiny and long yellow and green leaves – great looking shrub

Chinese Pizazz – Loropetalum – The Ruby is a dwarf and has purple and green leaves year around. Pink flowers in spring and summer.

Many soft leaf Junipers will do well – Blue Owl, Blue Star are just a couple.

Indian Hawthorn – pink or white flowers in spring

Golden Euounymus – variegated yellow and green leaves year around.

There are many more too. I will link you to the gallery of plants section and the variety of plants section of my website. These and other low maintenance shrubs are on these pages with photos, climate zones and descriptions. I hope this information helps, and good luck to you. Have a great day!
