Nancy asks…
I love birdwatching and there are so many different varities in my garden that I felt that I had to ask this question. I keep my gardens in the best condition I can for someone my age and my wife called me over to the window earlier and I saw Robins, Blackbirds, Starlings, Sparrows and there was even a little fox out too. What is it that attacts all this wildlife to my garden?
I assume you have a mature landscape where birds feel safe visiting or hanging out. The number 1 reason birds come and stay is that there feel safe. Plus if you provide food from either your plants or in a feeder you have created a magnet. Water is very important and running water is the best of all. Here is some more Information I think you might be interested in:

Ruth asks…
Hi, I have heard a rumor that there is a garden area atop one of the major buildings in Philadelphia. I think it may be the Free Library of Philadelphia, but can not find any evidence. I hear it can be used for weddings or other various events? Does anyone know if such a place exists?
The Free Library of Philadelphia has something called a “Green Roof”. It isn’t a garden in the traditional sense, but it is organic covering for the roof that is more energy efficient. The green roof is viewable by the public (it’s a demonstration pilot) but I’m not sure if it’s available for events. You’d have to contact the Free Library for that.
