What a corny question. Maybe your intellect will blossom in a few years. I suggest you branch out, and take root in another subject. P.S. Wanna go to the game tonight in Madison Square Garden?

I’m looking for a certain picture of a home from one of the magazines articles. Is there a place I can see their old Magazines?
Try the library or ask the librarian about internet searches….they are very helpful about this and may be able to get a back issue for you.

Is it the actual burning and inhaling of the smoke?
Is it the nicotine in tobacco that’s bad?Could they not some how get the nicotine out of them and would it taste bad to people if they did?
I know the nicotine part is the addictive part so if they removed it wouldn’t people not have the habit anymore.
Are people that grown their own better off than the people that go buy a pack the store?
I actually dont know why some of the products within the ciggs cause cancer, but I know its the Nicotene in the smoke..it is known that people that dont smoke but are around it are at higher risk for lung cancer. Also the ciggs contain carbon monoxide wich obviously is a poison and can labor your breathing or even kill you after so much exposure, along with tar that coats the inside of your lungs. I think to a point people that have their own, it would be better, because its just the Tobacco and not the tar and all of the other junk, but the carbon monoxide is produced by the combustion anyway, but when you buy in the store they contain filters so in a way that can be better you would think.
Chris asks…
or would that be considered communism?
“Third, you can’t grow substances that are subject to government regulation. Tobacco is subject to government regulation (taxation), and you can no more grow it than you could marijuana.”
Wrong. It is currently legal in all 50 states to grow your own tobacco. Been growing mine for years.

I want to smoke “tobacco,” not the shit they put in cigarettes or anything like that. What is a method if taking in %100 pure tobacco?

To smoke? Good luck. You would have to grow your own or buy it from someone that does.
Purest way I could think if is dry snuff.
Snort it. Not very social I know. But it will come back. Everyone is trying to turn away from cigarettes and this is the SAFEST alternative.
Not a single recorded case of cancer.

Well the reason cigs cause cancer is because there are thousands of trace amount chemicals in them that dont agree witht the human body sometimes.
The burning and inhaling of the smoke is a chemical change of what the cigs are made of and that in itself is harmful.
Most smokers’ taste buds in their mouths do not function properly, so taste is not so much of and issue.
Nicotine is addictive, some say more then heroin, that is not the only reason people smoke though. It is relaxing and habitual.
If people were to grow their own, i would suggest a healthier, non-addictive and more relaxing plant than tobacco, i think you know what i mean

I live in the United States, and I really would like to get into the premium tobacco industry. Possibly the cigar industry or the pipe industry. I was just wondering if it is legal to grow (or try to grow, ha ha) tobacco at my residence. I figure I can get some basics down before I attempt to get into the industry.
Thanks!
I grow tobacco at my house. It’s completely legal to grow it but not to sell it. You can however sell whole leaf tobacco so long as the midrib is not removed. Surprisingly there is a market for such a thing. Roll your own tobacco users often seek out whole leaf tobacco as do some pipe smokers. It is unfortunate that there are few people who make their own cigars these days.
The good old USDA will even supply you with free seeds if you are willing to jump through a few hoops. It takes quite some time for tobacco seeds to grow large enough to plant outdoors so you had best get started right away.

I don’t have a greenhouse, but would like to grow my own vegetables and flowers from seed this year? Can anyone recommend a way I can do this?
Hi,
The most affordable and ‘home-made’ way to grow your own plants is to either use seeds from your favorite fruits and veggies (bill peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.) or to buy packaged seeds. Some like to purchase a small plastic green-house type container that can hold 50 seedlings or more and even come pre-seeded for you. (They aren’t that big, so you can keep it in most places in your house without it getting in your way.)
If budget is an issue, you can use styrofoam or paper cups or some other creative means of small holders to start your plants in. These days, you can buy anything, so you can either go out and buy a cheap mulch or just grab some dirt from your backyard.
Because plants can often be tricky to grow until your ‘green thumb’ is cultivated, you might want to start by growing at least 5 of each flower/veggie type as a few might not make it for whatever reason. Keep the soil damp (don’t flood the little guys) and keep in sunlight up high out of reach of kids or pets (who always want to sit on them!).
After they are a few inches high and look strong enough to endure the great outdoors, transfer them to your garden! (The reason I don’t start seedlings outside away is because after trying it before, they didn’t make it for whatever reason and it was very hard to tell them apart from the other weeds that constantly try to take them out) Make sure you plant them in wet soil and keep them wet – especially for the first few days as they usually don’t like the ‘big move’ to the outdoors right away. Also, don’t forget to mark which plant is what during the whole process – a small but important detail.
Happy Gardening!

I would like to grow some of my own vegetables, but don’t have any outside space. I guess I can do it in pots but I’m not sure what kinds of things grow well indoors, and if it would make my flat smell of wet soil or plant food!
No vegatables I know of will grow well in the average home (with out grow lights etc.). You can grow a few herbs inside. If you have a patio, almost any will grow in pots outdoors, but they need full sunlight to grow well which is all but imposible indoors. Tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash do well in pots outdoors. Things like beans, corn, okra, etc. Will grow in pots, but are impractical because of small yeild per plant, just wouldn’t be worthwhile.
Joseph asks…
I know that you can buy seeds but can you buy young plants as well? I want to start a garden in the spring so that we can grow our own vegetables and not have to rely so much on foodstamps.
Yes, you can buy food producing plants with EBT.
EDIT: No, it doesn’t vary by state. SNAP benefits are a Federal program and are the same in every state. While each state is responsible for distributing and administering the program, they don’t set the rules and guidelines.

I’m researching some gardening tools, and I’m trying to compare the quality of tools from various companies. I’m comparing Sears (craftsman), Felco, Corona, and Flexrake. I have found information on each of the companies except for Flexrake. Does anyone have any information about the quality of Flexrake tools? Please let me know. Thanks.
Flex rake is great. Sturdy, reliable and does what you need it for. Iv had more problems with craftsman then anything!

Which one is a gardening tool and which one means prostitute?
Hoe with an ‘e’ is the gardening tool and ‘ho’ is slang for any slutty girl, prostitute or not. I’ve never seen the latter with the e.

I am getting ready to buy a small aluminum building from Lowes Hardware and this one comes without a floor. How can I secure it to the ground to keep it from blowing away or at least weight the bottom of it down with a floor or studs anchored? It will be used for storing the lawnmower, gardening tools and a freezer.
I like placing pressure treated 4×6 on the ground where the building contacts the ground. Dig a post hole at each corner of the building below the frost line . Bend a piece of rebar, in the shape of a u,over the 4×6 and fill hole with sackcrete covering both ends of the rebar by 6 inches. I then screw the building to the 2×6. Use a 1×4 as a spacer between the building and the 2×6. So the rebar has room over the 2×6. If you want a floor I would use wood nailed to the 4×6. Depending on the size of the building you might need additional 4×6 in the center . I would space at 24 inches.

I live in an apartment and I am toying with the idea of growing my own vegetables this year. What are good veggies to plant and that will thrive in planters on my little porch in CO?
For many things it’s not, although it would help to know if your porch gets full sun or is covered.
With enough sun it’s ideal for hot peppers, peppers, tomatoes, & great for many pricey herbs.
In those conditions I’d tend to look for things that I’d rather not pay for.
Have fun!

Is a food’s being genetically modified that big a deal or a health concern? Do they do it so they can fill it full of pesticides and herbicides (that the plant supposedly resists) and if they do, does it make the plant more carcinogenic and unhealthy? What about the produce in stores? Is that genetically modified too?
If I grow my own vegetables (and maybe fruits), and someone sprays pesticide on all of it, isn’t it the equivalent of store bought foods or is it better because the sprayer knows what’s on it?
In America they probably are GMO. In europe they have to label GMO foods but not america.
Same with all foods in the greengrocers- they’ll all be umped up to make bigger food.
Growing your own will always be better because you can see what’s on it.
Think about it- the supermarkets need to make cheapest food possible, they could spray it with thirty things, why would they hold back? As long as the food grow as quick as possible and they have as few die from bugs as possible they would literally do anything, including people, to get that food right??

I’m interested in growing my own fruits and vegetables. However, I live in a ground floor apartment with an open patio. I don’t want people tampering with my plants. What can I do? I thought about buying some sort of cage, is that possible? Are there any fruits and vegetables I can grow indoors?
Most vegetables these days can be grown in pots on your patio. Tomatos, Beans, Peppers, squash like Zucchini, just about anything, carrots, beets, lettuce. About the only thing you would possibly have a problem with would be corn and possibly some of the vining plants like cucumbers. With the vining plants like cucumbers, you could still use a pot but you would need some kind of a heavy trellis behind it in order to hold up the vines and vegetable when it grows but it can be done. You can also do fruits in pots like blueberries and strawberries. I would suggest going with like a Miracle Grow potting soil so that the plants have food and help keeping water in the pots.
If you get large pots try putting the foam peanuts at the bottom to help make them a little less hard to move if you need to move them. It won’t hurt the plants to have that at the bottom. Hope this helps you!!

I will be attending a garden party at the end of the month, and my partner and I were thinking it would be nice if we gifted the hosts something like a cake or quiche that we could bake. Any tips or ideas? What would be good.. we are clueless.. thanks.
If it’s a May garden party, you’d want something quite summery…
I like the idea of cheesecakes, or tarts with summer fruits like strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Or, how about a summer fruits crumble, which would taste gorgeous with a large dollop of vanilla ice cream!

Been looking online for home / garden products, but not the standard things I’d find in a garden centre…Any ideas of where I can buy products that are a little bit special?
I was in Whittards of Chelsea coffee supplies a few weeks ago and they had a tea set for gardeners which i thought was awesome! The cups were like plant pots, the spoons were like spades, there was a teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug, all on a tray. They were so different I wished I knew someone to get it for!!

I am secretary of my High School club, and we want to write to companies like OSH and Lowe’s for gardening supplies and plants or seeds for our club’s memorial garden. How should we write it?
I know we need to:
-include a group picture
-tell them our mission
-tell them how it would benefit them (taxes write offs, etc)
what else?
Don’t forget to add what you are planning to do with the materials if donated. And tell them you will be sure to send them updates on the progression of your project.
First you make your letter like a proprosal for the items, you’ll need to set a budget up and develope a time line of when materials are needed to the start of project with an estaimation of how long the project may take. You’ll want to document everything take pictures and when the project is done send them a portfolio of the project.

I have 5-6 long handles gardening tools. I need to hang them or make a covered box for them outside, I don’t want to store them outside w/out protection. Not much room in the garage. Any clever ideas out there?
You could make a simple box long enough to hold your gardening tools with a hinged lid. Finish this off with a back on it and convert it to a bench. I would put a few holes in the bottom for drainage of moisture. If you do make it, try to make the lid for the box wider and longer than the box itself so any rain would run off of it and not into it.
Good luck hope it helps
