Why yes, I AM cheap! Haha.
Yes you can. The gift card simply has a pre-determined value that has already been paid for. It is like paying in cash. The coupon is a special discount that is deducted off the bill.

Its on sunday and well what should I get?——-ooooorrr make?
Garden plants and your help in planting them. It’s inexpensive and you give of your time and you get your hands dirty all at the same time. The gift will keep on giving all summer long.

Okay, so my Grandma’s birthday is this Monday, and she will be 70. There will be a surprise party for her. I have one problem. I have no clue what to make her. I love making things, but I’m stumped. She likes Gardening, Crocheting, Knitting, and Cardnals. Does anyone have suggestions on what to make, that she will love? I need to be able to make it by Friday! Thank youu!
If she likes gardening why not a gift (like an apron) with her favorite type flower http://www.perennial-gardens.com/

(I want to buy my parents one for christmas)

I personally love olive garden.
I think they will enjoy that restaurant.
And you can buy the gift cards in the store, or at safeway.

We are having a Secret Santa in our office and the name that I picked is for a woman who I don’t know much about. All I know is that she has a nice garden near her home. Last year, I picked her name and I bought her a plant. She loved it! I don’t want to get her the same gift this year. It’s too difficult to transport from home during the morning rush hour. Any suggestions? The maximum is $20. Thanks!
She would like a gift card to a gardening center.

My mum currently has a good BBQ, and table & chairs.
What is a great gift for the out door garden? Has a MASSIVE garden! Also has many chicken’s and a dog.
Bird bath? plants? suggestions?
If you have anything great in your garden, or if any body has ever given you a gift for the our doors? let me know!
Something unique, special, something unusual perhaps?
Thank you.
I would also like to add she is 36, so relatively young. So nothing to high maintenance as she has a busy life style.
One year I got an outdoor sink for my gardening. It was a real help! I could clean up before going in (to clean up) and it was great to use while potting small plants. It hooked to the outdoor fawcet … Or the hose. I got it from Home Depot. It was such a good gift I gave one to my best friend that same year.
Honestly, a bird bath will be pretty useless with chickens and dogs in the yard. The dogs will lap up most of the water and the chickens will drink the rest while they poop on the edges of the bath. If your mom doesn’t have a gazing ball check those out. They really add a touch of whimsey to any outdoor setting.

For example on an Olive Garden gift card I got, you could use it at Macaroni Grill, and some other affiliates. Does Crapplebees have this type of affiliation with another restaurant chain that you could use the gift card at?
Applebees is incorporated with IHOP. I have never heard of them sharing gift cards like Darden Resturants (Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Seasons 52, Longhorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, and The Capital Grille.) That is why they can share gift cards amongst the restaurants Because they are the largest full service restauants. That makes it easier to use the gift cards. Compared to just two resturants. Darden is the only place I have heard of that allows sharing of gift cards.

I’m visiting my dad for his birthday..I haven’t seen him in a long time..Anyway I was thinking about getting him an Olive Garden gift card..I wasn’t sure what else to get him, and I know that he likes Olive Garden, and also he said I don’t have to get him anything but I want to anyway..So is this a good idea? Any other special suggestions?
Would be nice if you gave it to him and maybe went with him, I don’t know how long your visiting. It may also be nice to give him a nice picture of you to keep.
Paul asks…
I want to take the Chia herb garden as a gift to my friend overseas but can I take seeds on a plane?
It depends on where you are going. You’d need to find out what the seeds are (what herbs) and then contact the agricultural department for the country you are going to and ask them if the seeds are allowed. Not all countries allow all plants.

If you use a gift card and you want to leave a tip, can you take the tip out of the gift card balance? How does that work? For example, for Olive Garden gift cards.
No, a gift card balance is money that goes directly to the restraunt. A tip however, goes to the waitress.

I filled out a survey to get a free olive garden gift card.I did not get the card but I cant stop all the junk mail now in my spam folder.
99% of the free offers are scam when the amount of the prize is over a few dollars. It is just to get your address to sell to mailing lists. I am sorry but it is next to impossible to stop. Many spam emails have a link to remove you but the majority of the time it just confirms that you exist.
NOTE: If the junk mail is actually in your spam folder then the Yahoo filter is doing what it is supposed to do.

I’m not exaggerating – I’ve killed an aloe plant, rosemary (twice), even a bamboo that you only have to water once a month! Right now I have a cactus as a gift and I’ve kept it alive for almost 6 months and would like to expand. I’m looking for an indoor plant and get some sun (I’m on the west side of my building). Sometimes I go away for a weekend and don’t really have anyone to water plants for me. Ideas?
Spider plants are hard to kill, and beginner gardners have luck with them:

I am wanting to send a gift card to someone’s Myspace email account. Do you know if this is possible? Do you know which companies would allow this? For example, could I send an Olive Garden gift card to their email and they could download it and use it or claim it at a local Olive Garden?
This would work with online coupons all you have to do is send them the link or send them the picture of the coupon that you downloaded…however as far as i know any major retailer would require an actual gift card (those pretty little plastic things) in which case you would need to either mail it to the person or give it to them (read: a gift…)
Donna asks…
I think olive garden is a crock. I’ve been to locally-owned Italian restaurants owned by the same Italian families for years and years. I have no interest in the McDonald’s of Italian food. So, what’s so great about it? Win me over, if possible.
Ps- I can’t sell the card, my MIL works there, so she’d know. And I’m not ungrateful.
I like that soup that has the little dumplings in it. {but they could easily cut out some of the salt in it; and it might even be better.}
For the main course, go for something that is more meat, cheese, and sauce. A chicken entree would probably be your best choice there.

I’m having a small wedding(under 30 people) and the reception will be at either Red Lobster or Olive Garden. I want to open gifts at the reception, but my mom says it would be rude to those that don’t bring gifts.
Would it be rude? I’m not greedy, I just thought it’d be fun to do at the reception.
So should me and my fiance open them at the restuaraunt or on our honeymoon?
HELP!
I don’t think it would be in very good taste. Many people don’t bring gifts at all – they bring cash in a card, and it’s really not polite to open cash gifts in front of others. That’s best done at home, in private, for both etiquette AND security/safety purposes. You don’t want to be walking out of some family restaurant with wads of loose cash!
Also, remember that guests have plenty of time after your wedding to send a gift on. If someone wants to wait (say, until their payday) to buy and mail a gift, it would be very uncomfortable for them to have that fact highlighted by their gift not being there at the time of the opening.
Follow your mum’s advice, she knows what she’s talking about.

I’m about to throm a debut party next week. How do I make it different? What else should I include aside from the 18 roses and candles and gifts? What games can I prepare? It’s gonna be in a small garden with rain-proof covers. guests are in formal attires. What can I do to make the party short but not boring?
that’s 18 candles, 18 roses, and 18 gifts…sorry for the error in spelling. i want a short game but a lively one. i also need the mechanics of the games. No video games please. Preferable can be played by teens or young adults who come in pairs. thanks.
Might be helpful to know where you’re doing this. What part of the world? It’s a big place here!

If you can use the gift card at more than one restaurant owned by the same company it will say so somewhere on the card. If you don’t like Applebees and would prefer a gift card for a different restaurant, there are websites where you can sell gift cards for cash or exchange them for gift cards from other companies. If you want to check some of the reputable companies, here is a link with more information: http://www.squidoo.com/unwanted-gift-cards
George asks…
whats a good price for a b-day gift card to olive garden?
I usually figure in $15-$20 per person when I give a gift card, with a minumum of $30-$40 (enough for two people). If they have a family then I usually give closer to $70 so they can bring their kids and it will cover some of that, too.
Even if they are single they will more than likely go with somebody so I would think $30 minimum.

I was given an Olive Garden gift card and tried to check the balance but the card is not activated apparently. Is there any way I can resolve this issue without spending money on a new card? Can I go to Walmart and tell them and ask them to activate it for me?
Ok you were given a Olive Garden gift card…Ok and to check the balance just go in a Olive Garden and tell them you would like to activated your gift card and check the balance on it.

I need to buy a birthday gift for my mom. She’ll be 58. She loves to garden and she always paints her nails in the summer. She also has arthritis. Any suggestions?
Does she have ergonomic garden tools? I saw an article about them in an issue of Organic Gardening. They had them for the disabled volunteers that worked a community garden.
I too have arthritis but in my back, so I find it easier to sit and do my gardening. Bending hurts after a while.

I’m looking to buy a potted herb set but not from a garden center, something with nice packaging that I could give as a gift. Or maybe a set with the soil in the pots and the seeds. Any ideas where I could find something like this?

They are all owned by Darden so I figured it might be possible. I was given an OG gift card but would rather use it somewhere else.
I don’t blame you Olive Garden is the worst place ever. And a lot of people think the same way they said Jessica Simpson ate there and she went into the kitchen to thank the Chef. She thanked the microwave. And yes you can use it like that, its basically like a Wal-Mart gift card you can also use it at Sam’s Club because they are owned by the same company.

I am making little garden gifts for all my guests. I want to write something along the lines of watch us grow together. Can anyone think of a good/cute saying?
We did this for ours. I put seeds in a pouch with the following saying “plant these seeds in memory of our wedding. As your flowers grow know that our love too is blooming “
