Joseph asks…
There are many birthdays coming up in August/September in my family. The kids are going to range between 3-5 years old. I have decided that I will no longer contribute to the useless toys that have no educational value that they receive mountains of from the rest of the family each year. Instead, I will carefully and lovingly plan a fun, educational present that they will love just as much as the mind numbing video games!
This year I’m going with a gardening theme. I painted tin buckets, each with different garden related objects (ladybugs, sunflowers, grasshoppers etc.) and found matching gloves, mini shovels and watering cans to go with each tin. I will pick up packets of various vegetable and flower seeds. The last thing I want to go with these presents is a GOOD childrens picture book that has a gardening theme. Something that is going to be colorful and either teach them about the growing process or have a cute story about gardening. Thank you in advance for your suggestions!
There’s the classic –The Carrot Seed.
Or Lois Ehlert’s — Growing Vegetable Soup (among other books she’s written about the subject of growing).

You can collect all the plants available in the action part of the game plus a tree of wisdom.

i want to get all the grandkids to paint a tile and then frame them all together or paint rocks for her garden
how will i know what supplies i need?
and what kind of paint etc?
Boy I’ll tell you some of the best gifts I ever got were the hand print stepping stones. They reminded me of how cute the kids and now the grand kids were and are. We used ours to make a path to the lilac I got for my 1st mother’s day. Here are some links. Good luck!
