I am redecorating my room. And my mom made me this really cute mural with butterflies, flowers, and a white picket fence mural when I was little. I want to keep the mural, but I want my room to look mature as well. Any help?
It sounds delightful. And there is nothing “immature” about the beauty of nature.
How about mounting a few small planter boxes along the top of your “fence”? Pine boxes would be the least expensive. You might have Dad or an uncle or friend construct them for you. Paint them white , fill them with garden wood chips and sprinkle the chips with a few drops of essential oil (something earthy). Toss in a few garden ornaments )fairies, gnomes. Statuettes of squirrels, etc.
Maybe add a 2×4 to one end of the mural Faux paint it like a tree trunk. Decorate a pre-assembled bird house and mount it to the wall at the top of the “tree!.
To add more texture and dimension to your room, find a fallen tree branch that still has a few leaves attached. Snip off the leaves. (Eucalyptus is perfect for this) Allow the branch to dry in a very erect position. Once dry, “plant” the branch in a terra cotta pot filled with plaster of paris. Allow the plaster to thoroughly harden. Place your “tree” in a corner. Be sure it’s stable and there’s no danger of tipping over. Add a bird nest among the remaining branches a few decorative birds and/or butterflies.
It will feel like you’re living in a lovely meadow!

What is the best way to do it? I woudl LOVE to burn the whole lot then hoe it out lol but I dont think that is an option. Does anyone have a good way? The backyard is just sand with grown up to my shoulders! We have a dog that eats it, so weed killer is out lol.
If you know someone with a goat that they will let graze in your backyard that is a sure and easy way to remove unwanted vegetation. Goats will eat roots, rusty cans, furniturwe and fabric, bark on a tree trunk as hihg as they can reach or climb. Also rose flowers and fruits and veggies.
They will also eat the clothes on the line and then the line. Pieces of wood and plastic, blackberry vines, cactus and artificial lawn ornaments (except concrete garden gnomes 16″ or taller.) etc.
So as long as you take precautions to remove all wanted things from any where the goat could possibly push / kick and or jump to get to, you should be ok.
You will need the goat for about 7 to 10 days.
The other option would be to rent a roto tiller for a day. The cost isn’t to high and they will weed and get your soil loosened for grass or garden. Dont want any plants? Then spray the area with roundup super concetrate. It claims to stop anything from growing for one year. Follow the directions and observe all warnings and precautions on the container. Cost is about $13.00 for a gallon which will do a really large yard a couple of times.

Hot or not?
Not hot at all, extremely tacky. Trailer trash stuff we call it, including painted rocks etc. It seems the folks who like it can’t cram enough in a small space. I hate it and in fact don’t know anyone who does like it.
It cheapens a place.

We are having a Vegetable garden this year. We live near Midland, MI. It will be a 1,000 Sq. feet garden but we do not have a whole lot of money. How can I get free Soil, mulch, Compost, manurer, tools, seeds, plants and anything like that?
First ask co-workers who own homes, homeowners always have stuff they want to get rid of. Also in the local papers at the beginning of the want ads they list the free stuff and you can also list what you’re looking for. Don’t forget the hardware store has all that stuff also and if you know anyone there they can help you, sometimes the bags of the stuff you need break in transit or even at the store, tell them not to throw it away and save it for you. Plants you can get from the nursery again some get messed up in transit and they get rid of them. Last let the neighborhood know what you’re in need of. And last you can ask at your church. Good luck………Tell me how you make out.

They can be sent as free gifts by your neighbors. If u wanna buy it its at the lawn and garden store and its the blue pack with the wheelbarrow

I’m thinking of doing cupcakes in the small pots from your local garden supply store.
Since I have done this more than a dozen times, I would say it is ok to bake in a terra cotta pot. BUT, you need to buy a NEW one, sterilize it by washing/scrubbing it with soap dish and water, put it in the oven for 2 hours at 200 degrees.. Let it cool, them VOILA ! It is safe… BUT, you need to line the whole inside with foil tightly before you pour your cake. Don’t forget to spray with cake release from Wilton. Marthat Stewart did this once on her TV show.
