Ancient mythology and cultural folklore is a great source of info on coming up with creatures/beings

Another source would be fantasy encyclopedias (although I never hold myself to them, they are fun reads).

As I said before I love looking into cultural folklore (did you know the first vampires were viewed as bloated corpses?). It especially helps with the fay.

Ancient mythology is helpful with the creatures since many are rooted in that lore (greek, roman, egyptian, celtic, mongolian, etc)

Okay, Okay, My Definitions
Elves- an interesting sort of fay; smaller than humans with a love of mischief. They can be helpful, but their help often comes with a price.
Fairies- faeries, fey, people of the fay. This is a general term not limited to any specific group. They are not to be trusted at any cost for the cost might be your life. To mortals though they are often pictured as smalled winged being distinguishable from angels due to the delicate insect like nature of their wing.
Gnomes-a motley group of fay often associated with gardens. As all fay are they are trouble. Some are ugly dirty things while others are clean cut, but one one thing they all have in common is that they never miss an opportunity to reek havok on nature and mortal minds alike.
Merpeople-an unusual group of people. A mysterious group who doen’t quite fit into the same category of most fay, particularly the maliousous water fay. Little is know about their habits or even their looks. They have human heads and fish bodies;they can breath in water, but whether they can stand air is unknown. Even among the fey they seem to be a mystery. They still aren’t to be trusted by any means, but their is little chance of encountering them even way. They hold the their own court and tend to the creatures of the ocean mixing with humans and fay only when truely nessessary.
Angels-another unusual group. Often associated with light they are not fay, or if they are they have done a good job convencing mortals that they aren’t. Very little is known about them, they adhere to a stict hierarchy, and apear to serve a source far greater than any mind, fey and mortal alike, can fantom. It is unsure whether they really have wings, or even if they have a true corpral form. In mortal imagery they are distinguishable from faeries due to the soft down like nature of their wings.

If you are at the part where you are battling aragog then you have to throw the black spiders back at him the wingardium leviosa spell, you have to pick them up with the spell and then press the same button again to spin them and throw them at him, like the gnomes in the wesley’s garden. After you complete that then you just drive as fast as you can out in the next level after the film clip 🙂
