Your Questions About Gardening

Sandy asks…

Can you give me an honost opinion?

I see real crappy songs and short stories getting acclaim here, please tell me what you really think. The truth helps not hurts.

It was like the sword just did her bidding. She never had to train herself to use it. She had a lack of thought when it was doing it’s work, her mind void of everything. Just the rhythm of dancing, of step forward, step back. It came as easy as breathing, as effortless as a heartbeat. The clang of metal was rarely heard in her encounters, it seemed so barbaric to bash your weapon against another, and because she was so natural at the use of bladed weapons that her sword more often touched flesh. When it did come in contact with another sword or knife it was a deliberate kiss meant only to set up the next move.
She had her first experience with a bladed weapon when she was only three, she had stolen her fathers favorite meat knife and taken it into the garden. It had a balance she could feel, slightly off center. The wooden handle was worn with his touch, and she could see the fine lines of his finger prints still on the blade from the last use. Her father was fastidious about keeping his blades sharp, you could shave with this knife. From six feet away she skewered a snake to the ground as it moved through the parsley patch, the knife seeming to leap from her had of its own violation, like the snake was a magnet and the knife its polar opposite. The knife centered in the snakes body widthwise, and planted hilt deep just behind its wedge shaped head. The snake had hoped to make a meal of one of the garden rats, and instead became the first sheath she ever owned. Her father hearing her tale made her the sheath and gave to her the meat knife, fending off the warnings of her mother, of how a three year old should never handle a knife let alone carry one at her side. He looked at her with sad eyes some times, knowing she would become something beyond him, something foreign to others, something they would not understand. He had seen it before with his other children.
Now she carried an assortment of bladed weapons, among other more exotic weapons she procured in travels across the lands. Practicing with them even though their use came natural to her, for to her it was not practice but pleasure. She killed her first man at 12, her meat knife (she called her snake blade) just nicking the artery of her foes ankle, a deliberate action so as to watch him bleed out into the sand. To hear him beg for his life. She felt more remorse for the snake, it was only looking for dinner. This man had been looking for prey.

He still liked the simple tricks. Playing fire throughout his fingertips, pulling coins from some ones ear. The true sleight of hand. Or shocking people with his handshake. A simple trick of focusing static electricity into his palm. Just a little bit of focus was all it took, really just a thought.
He learned as a baby that he could “focus”. He could draw toys to himself, or make animals do his bidding. He didn’t know then that the best of mages worked years to get enough focus to harness just one familiar, and that none of them worked wood or metal. As a rule abhorred manual labor, and thought of sleight of hand as tomfoolery. The sleight of hand actually took practice and dedication. True physical ability. It felt good to work his hands, doing carpentry with his father was the best, and he could apply his “focus” to what ever project he was on and imbue it with his essence. The problem; it was then a negative for anyone else. Only his father seemed to be able to tolerate anything he created with his focus. And even he rarely actually touched those creations. He would smile and say, this is yours. And it is beautifully done, but we cannot sell it. Others simply looked at them with distaste, thinking it an ugly thing. His room was full of his own creations. He loved his father for never complaining about the use of the material he worked so hard to obtain, the hours of effort he spent creating things that could never be sold. He was asked politely to leave his mages apprenticeship. Politely because they were scared of him. The other students laughed when he created a wand from the branch of an ancient oak tree, laughed because everyone new that true mages did not use wands. That was for tricksters to, used to distract the audiences attention from the bumbling sleight of hand tricks they performed. But he didn’t bumble, and he was no trickster. He could feel the universal energy flowing through the wand, he could see it. The branch of the ancient tree had seen over two hundred seasons. It had called him to it, gave itself up. He traveled miles into the old forest to find it. Didn’t know what he was going to find, just following the tickle of his focus, sitting under the tree for two days listening to it grow. Then harvesting the branch that was to become the wand. Taking it to his fathers workshop and sanding it down to the heartwood. Saving the wood dust from the

John asks…

Are there employment mafias in New York?

I maybe exaggerating but i believe there are employment mafias in America. Employment in america is something everybody had a right to. specifically because its the way you earn a living. I believe that to be employed is an Universal right. Every person has the right to work and be employed decently. But finding a job is becoming harder and harder. Find a job job in America is like trying to find gold.
When in the past it wasn’t like that. In the past when you were sent to a place to be hired you were hired right away if they needed someone now they look at you if you are black, the cloth you were, the way you speak they don’t even bother to have you fill an application and then they say I already hired someone or the classic leave your phone number I will call you and they never call.
And those that actually hire workers treat them bad, because they know that out there Competition is fierce. So employers become despots, ogres and tyrants. It’s surprising to see the great amount of discrimination that is going on in New York right now there is no regard for the antharrasing and anti-discrimination laws no enforcement no respect. discrimination comes from the whites, chinese,
europeans, spanish etc.
In the past If you were send to place for a job you were hired. But now you risk losing five bucks in train or bus fare what ever you use.
When Adan was in the Garden of Eden The one thing God guaranteed him and had for him was job, his job was to take care of the garden Genesis 2:15 The Lord took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. So God meant man to work. Adan had a cool job he had no one pushing him around or discriminating him or yelling at him. His job was easy. So what I want to say is that God gives us an example of how he wants things to be done. To work is an universal right.
I dont see ants denying other ants the right to work. I don’t see the bees doing it either.
Everything works in the Universe the Sun, the Moon the stars even our bodies are continually working. So work is part of human nature.
And work is an intrinsically and necessary thing in society.
The Other day I spoke to a fellow we made agreement through an employment agency that I was gonna go see the job in two weeks.
He said he wanted to see me in two weeks an that he was gonna hire me. I waited two long weeks. when the time came I paid 30 bucks on train fare to go see the the job. When I got at the train station I called the fellow he told me that that he had already hired someone and I had called WHO before saying I was not interested in the position, I never called him. He wanted me to go back from the train station something I refused i walked for about 30 minutes two where he was in Cold Springs and spoke to him face to face. Finally I asked him to give me back my train fare something to which he agree although he only gave me back 20 bucks I lost 10 bucks that they then I came back to New York.
Bu thimpressionon I get is that there is a job mafia going on and somehow they controsystematicallyly who gets hired and whdintnt
In the past jobs in the New York were a free market issue… but not anymore.

Honestly, there’s gangs, mafia, etc wherever you go. Don’t be too paranoid about it or whatever. It happens. You can still get a job. XD

Carol asks…

Big friends Problem?? Pls HELP?

okay here is my question .. I’m 19 in sophomore yr at college, the thing is people like me so much BUT i never feel included. last year i made a group of friends (like 3 girls n 4 dudes) i was so happy .. we went everywhere together, studied together .. u no like best friends.. but friends just LOSE INTEREST in me somehow. after six month we weren’t friends anymore.. everyone found other friends and they r like super happy. so i moved on, n found another group of friends, but they were friends since kinder garden or something, so i wasn’t feeling very included as well.. but i made a good progress, they liked me so much..every time they went out they called me to hang with them, i started to feel included, they liked my jokes, my stories. but a week ago the same freaken thing happened again.. they went all on a trip n didn’t tell me.. i found out later that they were gone.. n when they got back they acted like they were here the whole time.. Now, they don’t even call me to hang.
last month there was like 4 birthdays, n i wasn’t invited to any of them!! i didn’t even know there was a party till it was over. all my friends were there n no one even mentioned it!!
this thing started happening to me since i was 16. I can’t have a constant friend or a group of friends. n i’m not the kinda guy who is like a geek or something, everyone say dat i’m stylish, girls say i’m super cute, i’m not dumb. n ppl tell me u r easy to be loved. i help my friends with homework n projects… i do everything they ask. n i don’t have like self-pride..and yet i always end up with no friends
so what did i do wrong???

GardenersCardiff answers:

I wasn’t sure what advice to give you until I reached the end of your question. And here is the critical line, “I do everything they ask”. There it is. I’m not saying they are, but consider that they are using you. If they get you to help with homework and all that stuff, but don’t invite you to fun stuff…I don’t know. I don’t know them or you, so I can’t make that conclusion. But another thing I can say is that you have to learn to say no. If you’re always doing everything that they ask and agreeing to do everything they say, they have no way of knowing what you like and what you don’t like. Therefore, they have no way to get to know your personality. It’s much more complicated than this, but here is a short example: Bob asks Jen to help with math. Jen says yes. Tom asks Jen to tutor him in chemistry. Jen says yes. Maggie asks Jen to help her make breakfast, Jen agrees. Thus, Bob, Tom, and Maggie, all think that Jen likes math, chemistry and cooking. Maggie could be really close to Jen, and Tom just a classmate, but since Jen agrees to both happily, Maggie doesn’t feel that Jen regards her as a best friend, so she doesn’t know that Jen thinks that Maggie is closer to her than Tom, so Maggie doesn’t treat Jen like a best friend either. Also, if Jen agrees to everything, her friends can’t tell what her personality is. They think she is like a robotic person who likes everything and smiles at everything…people have more respect for you if you sometimes say no. Don’t get me wrong, still keep helping people, but also let your personality shine through. 🙂 Now of course, I could be going in the completely wrong direction here, but it’s all I got. Hope this helps at least a little bit 🙂 !
